About this Coffee

Our importer’s long history with Brazilian coffee began when their founder and partner Andrew Miller imported his first container with a Brazilian friend in 1994, bringing in a coffee that would be the genesis of their "signature" Brazil offering, Serra Negra. Serra Negra, meaning “Black Mountain”, is a Brazilian profile that encapsulates the classic profile from the state of Minas Gerais.

Brazil Naturals differ just enough from other natural processed coffees to stand on their own, and are often dried on patios rather than raised beds. Climate, varieties being grown, and processing differences all help shape the cup. Brazil Naturals typically have lower acidity and a heavier, fuller body, with fruit notes closer to coffee-cherry pulp than the bright berry flavors of Ethiopian Naturals.

This coffee was designed to be a workhorse for Blends, while still shining on its own as a Single Origin, with tasting notes of nuttiness, cocoa, citrus-zest acidity, and a heavy body.
