Honoring Our Producing Partners
Aguilera Brothers
The Aguilera Brothers, a family of Cup of Excellence-winning siblings, carry on a generational tradition of coffee cultivation started by their father, who was among the first to plant coffee in this region in the 1940s. The 12 Aguilera siblings divide the tasks, with brothers Felipe and Erasmo primarily overseeing the milling and drying processes. Their active involvement in the
community and commitment to quality coffee reflect their family spirit, which extends beyond their farms and mill.
Miguel Menendez Senior
While many coffee companies pride themselves on roasting “direct-trade” coffee, the Menendez family takes this commitment even further. With nine award-winning farms in El Salvador, they oversee every step of the journey—from processing and exporting to directly importing their coffee into the United States. For the past 12 years, we have proudly partnered with the Menendez family, inspired by their dedication to community, quality, and passion for innovation.
Buy coffeeSteven Vargas
Steven, a fifth-generation farmer, was among the first producers in Costa Rica to sell his coffee through Cafe Imports. During our visit to his farm, Don Sabino, in 2023, Steven shared a heartfelt message: “Thank you for coming and being here at Don Sabino; it is a pleasure to welcome you. I remember many beautiful moments since I first met the Evans Brothers. Rick and Randy, you were my first friends and clients, and you will always hold that special place. It is an honor to have you here—welcome, this is your home.”
Maria Carmenza Calpa
For the past four years, we’ve been thrilled to buy Maria Carmenza Calpa's coffee. We’ve visited her farm, El Ajisito, where she single handedly oversees every aspect of production. Nestled at 2,050 meters above sea level, Maria's 6-hectare farm is home to Castillo, Caturra, and Colombia coffee varieties. Her dedication and hands-on approach shine through in every cup.
Maria Gaspar Escobar
Maria, a second-generation coffee grower, meticulously manages her farm and mill in Huehuetenango, where she works closely with all-women producer groups. As a dedicated member of the FairTrade/Organic Codech Cooperative, we’re honored to continue our partnership with her, ensuring she receives a premium well above the standard Fair Trade price.
