Honoring The Producers
This award would not be possible without the dedication of the thousands of smallholder farmers who make up the Mutira Farmers Cooperative Society and the Kagumo Factory in Kenya’s Kirinyaga region.
Nestled near Mt. Kenya, Kirinyaga’s rich volcanic soils, abundant rainfall, and high elevations create the ideal conditions for producing the vibrant, fruit-forward coffees Kenya is known for.
Through the cooperative, smallholder farmers gain access to shared processing infrastructure and the opportunity to bring their coffees together into exceptional lots. This coffee is a celebration of their hard work, care, craft, and the remarkable character they bring to every harvest.

Why We Chose This Coffee
We chose this coffee for its complexity, but also for that unmistakable familiarity you get from drinking a damn good cup of Kenyan coffee. It opens with a golden raisin sweetness, followed by a juicy, jammy acidity and a crisp mineral finish that keeps you coming back for another sip. It’s vibrant without being overwhelming, complex without losing that classic Kenyan character we love.
This coffee is a beautiful expression of what makes Kenyan coffee so special. We love it black, brewed as a Chemex or pourover, where the clarity and layered flavors really have a chance to shine.
